Let me begin by saying I live in Washington state. This means, as a shopaholic and self-proclaimed fashionista, one of my happiest days was getting my Nordstrom card. I do not recommend getting any type of credit card from a retailer, but this one was more of a badge of shopping honor for me. (My limit is low and I hardly use it, mom.) That being said, today is the first day of Early Access to the sale for cardholders. The sale opens to everyone else on July 20th.
This sale and the winter shopping event (which my Nordstrom did not host last winter; Rude) are the only things I really pay attention to because A. I am a teacher, not a billionaire and B. ya girl loves a sale. Now that I have shifted to what I am now calling “mindful shopping” I recycled my Anniversary Sale catalog that was mailed to my house thinking I can’t buy anything there. Wrong. Due to summer boredom/lack of motivation, I made the choice to peruse the sale with my mindful glasses (and brand filters) on. Here are a few of my finds that I love:

If you know me, you know I love my Levi’s. Levi’s is making strides in water conservation. Making denim jeans is an extremely water intensive process and Levi’s is moving toward using less water in their production. These I like these 501 Crop Skinny jeans in both the black (dancing in the dark) and blue (Rebel) denim. Both are originally $98, on sale for $64.50
This brand is one of those that I thought WOW! Sustainable = expensive, and figured I would never own anything from this brand even in my wildest dreams. All the fabrics are sustainably produced (these are stretch cotton) BUT that does not mean they are all vegan. However, these Stretchy Organic Cotton Slim Ankle Jeans are a steal of a deal from $178 to $118.90.
I first encountered Herbivore Botanicals at Sephora with my cousin. I tried the Blue Tansy Mask and Lapiz face oil. Game. Changers. The company is both cruelty-free and vegan and has been Leaping Bunny Certified. The other win is that this Rosewater + Gemstone Trio will last forever and $76 worth of product for $52 is a serious skin win.
Last, but not least, is this hoodie by Alternative Apparel. I have quite a few pieces from this brand that I got before and during my shift to mindful shopping. They are great for basics or lounge wear and everything I have is super soft. Although the Cozy Pullover Hoodie description says that it works for “lounging and general off-duty days” I am quite sure I can accessorize it for those bleak winter days of teaching. Challenge accepted. This guy (which comes in 5 colors) is usually $46 and during the sale it’s $29.90.
